AP reports cats and dogs can catch H1N1
Ok so I just read a story in the AP about a cat in Iowa that had contracted swine flu from its owners.
“A 13-year-old Iowa cat has been infected with swine flu, veterinary and federal officials said Wednesday, and it is believed to be the first case of the H1N1 virus in a feline.” The story goes on to say that two ferrets also had it and died and that dogs could be infected.
Last week when I was laid low, Chewie, our dog was being extremely empathetic, so much so that he took to bed with me and seemed to cough every time I did. It crossed my feverish mind that maybe the dog had swine flu too—until I remembered that can’t happen! But I guess it can and I now I’m wondering if maybe it did.
