About

I’m Motherblogger. A few years ago I started this blog to talk about what I thought motherhood would be and the schism between my expectations and my reality. I admit I was a naive new mother, but it was quite a shock when all my tidy fantasies, the kind that include a layette hand knit by nuns in Paris were busted by messy incidents, like the time my oldest son had a temper tantrum in a rental car after getting stuck in traffic on the way home from Ikea. He threw up so badly my friend who came with me had to change her underwear. Now that stories like that exist to help us bond with other parents at cocktail parties, my blog has expanded to be about the other things I take care of beyond little boys. Lately, I find myself mothering like my house and its occasional and necessary makeovers,  my aging skin tone, two dogs, parties and the bar carts that make them, my parents, friendship hiccups and behavioral problems (usually mine).

And lastly, I write my posts long after my husband has fallen asleep watching the Colbert Report, so bear with the typos. I will fix them, eventually. Thanks for reading.
