Redecorating resolution #2: Hot plates
Sunday, January 2nd, 2011I love our everyday plates, they are a crazy mixture of Thomas Paul and PopInk melamine prints (below) as well as some William Sonoma eathenware David and I got when were married.
All our plates have been loyal, durable and can stand up to all the boy’s kltutzy table setting none of them are meant for fast everday meals: eathenware can’t be microwaved. The rims gets extremely hot while the food never gets warm and melamine is close to toxic when its microwaved and looks dull after being in the dishwasher. I need plates that can easily go from to oven, to micro, to plate warmer, to fridge, dishwasher back again without any complaint or cracking. Thankfully David gave me a set of these wonderful “Satumetsa” Iittalia bowls for Christmas and they make preparing and cleaning up everyday meals easy because they can take beating while looking gorgeous. I don’t expect much in life except that everyday things work like everyda things–meaning they can stand up to daily wear and tear without me having to worry about them. These four dishes have made dealing with holiday leftovers such a breeze that I’m ready to upgrade to full table settings.
The only problem is I can’t decide on which is my favorite, Satumetsa or the Taika collection that features owls and foxes.
